Year End Thanksgiving Celebration 2005

More than 200 parents and friends joined us for our Year End Thanksgiving and Awards Celebration on 11 December 2005. It was a time of thanksgiving, testimonies and recognition for 116 Rangers who complete awards and advancements. Nineteen Discovery Rangers earned the Gold Falcon Medal and five Commanders earned the Leaders Medal of Achievement. Praise God for His blessing on our Outpost throughout the year.

Congratulations to Outpost Commanders Cheah Siew Ying, Eddy Law and Wong Horr Wai (below; presented the LMA by National Training Coordinator Mike Kunaselaan)), Commanders Jasslyn Chan and Alvin Kang Nathan for earning the Leaders Medal of Achievement (LMA).

Here are the highlights for 2005:

Expedition Rangers Lam Kah Leong earned the Silver Medal of Achievement and Hansel Wong earned the Bronze Medal of Achievement.

Nineteen Discovery Rangers earned the Gold Falcon Medal.
848 merits and advancements were presented to 125 Rangers at our Council of Achievements (COA) in July and December.

Five Commanders earned the Leaders Medal of Achievement and nine Commanders complete the Ranger Basics course.

In conjunction with Father’s Day, the Royal Rangers organised a Fathers and Son Campout on the 24 and 25 June 2005 (Friday to Saturday) at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong. A total of 33 fathers and 41 children attended this camp assisted by eight Royal Rangers leaders.

The Expediton Rangers (15-17yrs) went on a 4 day backpacking trip to Endau Rompin National Park, Johor from the 8 to 11 June 2005. All nine Expedition Rangers who participated earned the Advance Backpacking Merit (Silver Merit).

The Adventure Rangers (12-14 yrs) went on a three days, two nights campout in Ulu Yam, Selangor from 23 to 25 November 2005. Fourteen Adventure Rangers, three Expedition Rangers helpers and seven leaders that was present for this camp.

Forty Discovery Rangers (9-11 yrs), together with 12 leaders went on an overnight campout at Sungai Chongkak, Ulu Langat, Selangor on the 18 and 19 November 2005.

The Ranger Kids (6-8 yrs) held a “Nite Out” on the 11 and 12 November 2005. A total of 18 Ranger Kids and 8 leaders spent the night at the Bethlehem Bungalow before visiting the National Planetarium and Lake Gardens the next day.
