Recognizing the need for a dedicated ministry targeting the interest and needs of boys, the Assemblies of God, USA in 1962 began the Royal Rangers ministry under the leadership of Rev Johnnie Barnes. As the ministry grew and developed, it crossed international boundaries and in 1982 through the vision of our Senior Pastor and 6 men – Lim Chin Kee, Tony Luk, Peter Goh, Clifford Lee, Robert Kuan and Lim Sew Hok, the Royal Rangers ministry at Calvary Church began in August with 25 boys in the Buckaroos, Pioneers and Trailblazers outpost.

Meeting at the Educational Block on Saturday

Meetings were held on Saturday afternoons at the educational block. From its beginnings the programme has provided both fun and accomplishment for the boys. The next year the Trail Rangers and Straight Arrows outpost were added. As the ministry grew, meetings were held on Sunday evening to coincide with the Worship Service. Under the guidance of our Senior Pastor and the able leadership of the Senior Commander together with the Commanders, the outpost has grown and expanded to include many exciting programmes and events for the boys as well as the whole family.
